Just stop right there says Magatte Wade, Senegalese entrepreneur who has built two companies in the U.S. What Africa needs is for African leaders and laws to get out of the way.
Wade’s controversial message has caught the attention of the development community. She appears prominently, for example, in the Netflix documentary Poverty, Inc., where she argues that foreign aid — even voluntary aid — can do more to hogtie poor people than it does to liberate them.
