Gabe Mott is the COO and co-founder of Aspire Food Group, a world-leader in commercially farming food-grade crickets (and other insects) and processing them into all-natural, high-quality superfood ingredients and consumer products. Founded in 2014 after winning the prestigious US$1million Hult Prize, Aspire is on a mission to fix our environmentally imbalanced food production system and to help eliminate food insecurity for all.
Gabe is widely regarded as a leading expert in commercial insect farming and husbandry, and currently oversees the national and subsequent global expansion of Aspire’s commercial facilities. He is a co-inventor on a number of issued patents and regularly contributes to academic publications related to specialized insect agriculture. As an industry thought-leader, a prolific public speaker, and a vegetarian for over 20 years, Gabe is frequently invited to speak about sustainability, innovation, and the role of cricket protein in the rapidly growing alternative protein landscape. He has appeared in numerous top tier media publications including Forbes, Financial Times, Fortune, Fast Company, Wired, and the Wall Street Journal.
Gabriel has a background in neuroscience and an MBA from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He has previously worked in organized labour, for NGOs working with disabled persons, and in private education. He has also performed consulting work in food security.
